CPU cutting key players.

[:1]After re-signing my players i sim the rest of of it. But then, i have key players missing. None of which were up for a new contract. At point i signed Anquan boldin to a 2 year contract and the next year he was no longer on the team. Is this supposed to be happening and if so is there anyway i can avoid it?
